The Smart Santa
Pop around to Smart to meet Santa Claus and have your photo taken with this lovely, bubbly icon of the festive season.
Santa Claus really helps to bring the magic of Christmas to life – especially at Smart Supermarket, where his presence can really be felt at this time of year. “Christmas is such a special time of year,” says the Smart Santa, who is eagerly looking forward to meeting lots of children this year, and to hearing all their requests for gifts under the tree. “Children who have been good all year round deserve a special treat,” he says with a big jolly smile. “So they can come here, have their photo taken with me and whisper in my ear what present they would like to receive. While I can’t make any promises, I will do my best to help them get it!”
Santa Claus – The Facts
What’s in a name? Just in the United States, Santa also is called St Nick and, sometimes Kris Kringle. He’s called Father Christmas in England, Christkindli in Switzerland, Père Noël in France, BabboNatale in Italy and Weihnachtsmann in Austria. What do you call him? Ever heard the tradition that Santa could leave you a lump of coal if you’ve been naughty through the year? Well you better watch out! That tradition started in Holland and was based on the assumption that, if you were poor, you had done bad things. At the time the poor would actually have been pleased with a lump of coal, as it would have given them the means to warm themselves up for a night. Smart Loves Santa! Want to have your picture taken with the cuddliest, loveliest Santa Claus ever? Pop into Smart Supermarket, where Santa will honour us with his presences (and presents!) throughout December – and we’ll often be open for extended shopping hours. We look forward to seeing you there! HoHoHo!
